DescriptionCommemorating 50 years since the first airmail service. This issue has the same design on both stamps, a 5d Green & a 2/3 Red, it is a Bleriot XI Monoplane, the type of plane flown by Maurice Guillaux in 1914, he left Melbourne on 16 July, 1914 at 9:12 am, arriving in Sydney on 18 July at 2:50 pm. (flight time was 8 hours & 2 minutes).
